The Austrian Empire Navy Rum Oloroso Cask is a luxurious bottling that combines Caribbean rum tradition with a noble sherry cask finish. Produced by the renowned Albert Michler Distillery, one of the oldest distilleries of the former Austro-Hungarian monarchy, this premium rum is made from high-quality molasses rums from the Caribbean. It is matured for up to 21 years using the traditional Solera method, with an average age of 16 years.

This rum gets its exceptional complexity from double barrel ageing: it is first matured in ex-bourbon barrels, which give it soft vanilla and caramel flavours. It is then refined for 12 to 16 months in American ex-Oloroso sherry barrels, which give it additional fruity, spicy and nutty accents. This double maturation ensures an incomparably deep interplay of flavours and an excellent balance between sweetness, spice and oak notes.

At 49.5 % vol., this rum has an impressive intensity and depth, yet remains smooth and harmonious. The elegant gift box (GB) makes it a first-class choice for connoisseurs and lovers of high-quality mature rums.

Tasting Note

Colour: Dark mahogany with reddish reflections.

Nose: Intense aromas of dried fruit, sultanas, nuts and dark chocolate, accompanied by spicy oak.

Taste: Full-bodied and complex with notes of caramelised fruit, honey, caramel, sherry spice and a hint of vanilla.

Finish: Long-lasting, warming and slightly dry with fine oak spice and lingering sherry notes.

The Austrian Empire Navy Rum Oloroso Cask should be enjoyed neat or with a drop of water to fully develop its intense flavour.
