The Jack Ryan TOOMEVARA 10 Years Old is a limited-edition single malt Irish whisky, bottled at 46 per cent in a 0.7-litre bottle and presented in a gift box. It is the first release in the Jack Ryan Generation Trilogy, which was later expanded to include Haddington and Finisher’s Touch. This Irish single malt is initially matured in ex-bourbon casks and then given a special Calvados finish in casks from Château du Breuil. Through this two-stage cask maturation, the classic influence of American bourbon casks meets the characteristic apple notes of the former Calvados casks. In total, the edition comprises just 3,500 numbered bottles, each personally signed by Eunan Ryan.


The Jack Ryan Toomevara Calvados Finish combines its 10-year maturation period with an unusual cask finishing process, which clearly sets it apart within the Generation Trilogy range. The bottling received special recognition at the 2019 San Francisco World Spirits Competition, where it was awarded Double Gold and honoured as the best Irish single malt in the competition. The other whiskies in the Generation Trilogy range have also won gold awards at international competitions. The combination of ex-bourbon cask maturation, Château du Breuil Calvados finish, limited bottling run and 46% ABV makes the Toomevara particularly appealing to connoisseurs of exceptionally finished and limited-edition Irish single malt whiskies.

Tasting Note

Colour: Pale golden yellow.

Nose: Complex apple notes ranging from warm, stewed apple through tart green apple to fresh apple peel, accompanied by grass, plant sap, honey and orange peel.

Palate: Juicy and fruit-forward with apple pie, soft cinnamon and rich apple sauce, alongside unripe apple and a subtle hint of citrus peel.

Finish: Long-lasting and increasingly dry, with sandalwood, a subtle hint of yeast and a sweet-tart note of green apple that remains present.

The Jack Ryan Toomevara 10 Years Old is best enjoyed neat at room temperature or with a few drops of still water. Culinary pairings: the Calvados finish harmonises particularly well with pork fillet, roast duck or mild to medium-strength cheeses, whilst apple strudel, tarte Tatin, apple cake or desserts with cinnamon and caramel make for ideal sweet accompaniments. This makes the limited-edition Irish whiskey an excellent choice as a digestif after a meal, with an apple-based dessert, or for an Irish whiskey tasting.
