Description
W. & J. Graham's Tawny Port 40 Years Old 20% vol. 0.75 l + GB is a masterpiece of the Portuguese port wine tradition and ranks among the finest bottlings from the renowned Graham’s house, which has been synonymous with exceptional quality since 1820. This port is crafted from the classic grape varieties of the Douro Valley: Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz, Tinta Barroca and Tinto Cão. These grapes grow on the steep schist terraces of the Douro and are renowned for their intensity and expressiveness.
After the harvest, the finest batches are vinified separately and aged for over four decades in small oak casks. During this long ageing period, the port develops its incomparable depth and harmony. Oxidative ageing, patience and the artistry of the cellar masters lend this 40-year-old Tawny Port its unique complexity. It is therefore not merely a drink, but an experience of rare elegance and a symbol of Portuguese craftsmanship. The elegant gift box (GB) completes the overall presentation, making it an exclusive gift idea for connoisseurs and enthusiasts.
Tasting Note
W. & J. Graham's 40-Year-Old Tawny Port presents a deep amber colour with golden highlights in the glass. On the nose, complex aromas of dried fruit, nuts, figs and almonds unfold, accompanied by subtle notes of toffee, honey and fine wood. On the palate, it is full-bodied, velvety and well-balanced, with impressive length and a lingering aromatic intensity.
This exceptional 40-year-old port is perfect as a digestif, to be enjoyed on its own to fully appreciate its depth and complexity. It also pairs superbly with fine blue-veined cheese, mature hard cheese or delicate desserts such as crème brûlée, chocolate truffles or nut tarts. It is also a stylish accompaniment to a cigar. Served at a temperature of 12–16 °C, it reveals its full spectrum of flavours and makes special moments unforgettable. The included gift box also makes it an exquisite gift idea for connoisseurs and those who appreciate fine things.
