Tasting Note

Colour: Ranging from gold to dark amber, depending on the cask type.

Nose: Intense and rich in esters, with pronounced Jamaican fruit aromas, complemented by distinct influences of port, Pedro Ximénez, Oloroso sherry or fresh oak.

Palate: Powerful and complex with the typically intense DOK character, whilst the individual cask variants emphasise fruity, sweet, spicy and woody notes to varying degrees.

Finish: Long-lasting and intense with a robust warmth, tropical fruit, spice and clearly perceptible cask notes.

The S.B.S JAMAICA Experimental Cask Series 2020 is primarily designed for a comparative tasting neat at room temperature. Ideally, the four variants should be tasted side by side in suitable nosing glasses to highlight the differences between the Port Cask, PX Cask, Oloroso Cask and Virgin Oak Cask. Given the high alcohol content of 57 per cent, a few drops of still water can help to further open up the individual aromas. Dark chocolate, unsalted nuts or subtle pastries make for understated accompaniments that do not mask the differences between the four DOK bottlings.
