The Kilchoman Islay Single Malt Whisky Bourbon/Oloroso Sherry SMALL BATCH 2 is a strictly limited edition release from the independent Kilchoman Distillery and is clearly aimed at connoisseurs of powerful, characterful Islay whiskies. This small-batch edition has been deliberately produced in a limited run of just 1,200 bottles and combines 80% bourbon cask whisky with 20% Oloroso sherry cask single malt. Bottled at 47.1% ABV, the whisky remains intense, structured and unadulterated, with no chill filtration and no colouring. The intense natural colour comes exclusively from cask maturation, and all the aroma-giving oils and esters are fully preserved.


Maturation in bourbon and Oloroso sherry casks emphasises the typical smoky Kilchoman house style, which is particularly appreciated by peatheads. The cask blend has been selected to ensure a balanced interplay of smoke, sweetness, fruit and spice. The proportion of Bourbon casks provides structure and approachability, whilst the Oloroso casks contribute depth and complexity. As an Islay single malt whisky small batch, this bottling sits between the core range and single cask releases, offering a distinct profile that clearly bears the distillery’s signature.

Tasting Note

Colour: Intense gold to copper, resulting solely from barrel ageing.

Nose: Smoky, with vanilla, caramel, dark fruits and spicy notes.

Palate: Strong peaty smoke, sweet vanilla and caramel notes from the bourbon cask, complemented by dark fruit, intense spices and drier oak notes from the Oloroso sherry cask.

Finish: Long-lasting, smoky and spicy, with balanced sweetness and dry oak.
