The Charles Smith Wines brand was founded by former music manager Charles Smith, who discovered his passion for wine after years on tour with rock bands. In 1999, he moved to Washington State and began producing wines characterised by their distinctive character, high quality and striking labels. His philosophy is to create authentic wines that reflect the character of the grape variety and the growing region - without excessive technical influence, but with a focus on naturalness and craftsmanship. The Boom Boom Syrah was one of his first wines and quickly became one of the most popular Syrahs from the USA.

Tasting Note

In the glass, the Boom Boom Syrah 2018 is a dark, impenetrable ruby red colour with violet reflections. The nose reveals opulent aromas of ripe blackberries, dark cherries and blackcurrants, accompanied by floral notes of violets and a subtle hint of smoke. It is powerful on the palate with juicy fruit, spicy nuances of black pepper, cloves and cedar wood as well as a hint of liquorice. The tannins are present but supple, and the fine acidity structure ensures a remarkable freshness. The finish is long, intense and characterised by dark chocolate and a hint of vanilla.

This powerful Syrah is an excellent accompaniment to grilled meat, especially steaks, lamb chops or spicy marinated ribs. It also unfolds its full potential with savoury stews, game dishes or mature cheese. For a perfect flavour experience, it should be served at a temperature of 16-18 °C and ideally decanted one hour before consumption.

Thanks to its intense flavours, the Boom Boom Syrah is also ideal as a wine for social evenings or as an expressive highlight with hearty BBQ dishes.
