The Nikka BLACK Deep Blend is a powerful Japanese blended whisky from Nikka Whisky, one of Japan's most important and renowned whisky manufacturers. The "BLACK" series is one of the company's most popular ranges and is particularly widespread in Japan itself. The Deep Blend variant clearly stands out from other bottlings thanks to its intensive cask maturation and the balanced combination of peated malts and sweet grain whisky.

The blend is based on carefully selected whiskies from the two Nikka distilleries Yoichi and Miyagikyo, which are characterised by powerful, smoky (Yoichi) and elegant, fruity (Miyagikyo) notes respectively. With an alcohol content of 45% vol., the deep blend is significantly stronger than many standard bottlings, but remains soft, round and pleasantly accessible. The maturation in burnt oak barrels provides depth, roasted notes and fine vanilla flavours.

Tasting Note

Colour: Deep amber with a reddish-golden hue.

Nose: Malty and spicy with notes of toasted wood, dark caramel, vanilla, light peat smoke and dried fruit.

Taste: Full-bodied and strong with sweet cereals, toffee, chocolate, a hint of liquorice and balanced oak spice.

Finish: Medium to long, slightly smoky with warm wood and caramel notes.
