Nikka BLACK Deep Blend is a robust Japanese blended whisky from Nikka Whisky, one of Japan’s most significant and renowned whisky producers. The ‘BLACK’ series is one of the company’s most popular ranges and is particularly widespread in Japan itself. The Deep Blend variant stands out clearly from other bottlings thanks to its intensive cask maturation and the balanced combination of peated malts and sweet grain whisky.

The blend is based on carefully selected whiskies from Nikka’s two distilleries, Yoichi and Miyagikyo, which are known respectively for their powerful, smoky (Yoichi) and elegant, fruity (Miyagikyo) notes. With an alcohol content of 45 % ABV, the Deep Blend is significantly stronger than many standard bottlings, yet remains smooth, rounded and pleasantly approachable. Maturation in charred oak casks imparts depth, toasty notes and subtle vanilla aromas.

Tasting Note

Colour: Deep amber with a reddish-golden sheen.

Nose: Malty and spicy with notes of toasted wood, dark caramel, vanilla, a hint of peaty smoke and dried fruit.

Palate: Full-bodied and robust with sweet grain, toffee, chocolate, a hint of liquorice and well-balanced oak spice.

Finish: Medium to long, slightly smoky with warm woody and caramel notes.

Nikka BLACK Deep Blend is ideal for enjoying neat, particularly at room temperature or with a drop of water to bring out its complexity.
