Description
Description
The Kopke 20 Years Old Tawny Port, with an alcohol content of 20 per cent by volume, comes in a 0.75-litre bottle presented in an elegant wooden case. It is produced by Portugal’s oldest port house, which has been synonymous with exceptional Tawny ports since 1638. This 20-year-old Tawny is the result of a masterful blend of carefully matured wines, which have been aged for many years in small oak casks, where they have developed their characteristic oxidative maturity, depth and elegance. The grapes come from the classic Douro grape varieties – including Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz and Tinta Barroca – which lend the wine its structure, aromatic intensity and natural concentration.
Two decades of cask ageing have produced a Tawny with an impressive balance between sweetness, nutty aromas, ripe fruit and spicy oxidative notes. Its aromatic complexity, fine structure and harmonious sweetness make this Port an outstanding example of its category. The Kopke 20 Years Old combines elegance, depth and a warm, multi-layered spectrum of aromas, making it the perfect wine to savour on special occasions – rich, velvety and long-lasting.
Tasting Note
In the glass, it displays an intense amber to copper-red colour. On the nose, complex aromas of dried fruit, figs, dates, candied orange peel, walnut and subtle notes of caramel and honey unfold. On the palate, the Tawny is elegant, smooth and multi-layered, underpinned by harmonious sweetness, nutty accents, subtle spice and warm, ripe fruit. The finish is gentle, refined and long-lasting, characterised by caramel, dried fruit and delicate toasted notes.
The Kopke 20 Years Old Tawny Port pairs superbly with nut-based desserts, crème brûlée, fig-based dishes, chocolate desserts, tarte Tatin, blue cheese or mature hard cheese. It is also perfect as a refined finale to a meal or as a wine for contemplation. Served slightly chilled at 12–14 °C, it reveals its full complexity and presents itself as a warm, elegant Tawny Port with long-lasting depth.
