The inspiration for the name of Desmond's Lime Juice was the naval surgeon Sir Thomas Desmond Gimlette.

He joined the Royal Navy in 1879 and invented one of the world's most famous cocktails on the high seas: the Gimlet.

The cocktail consists of half gin and half lime juice and contains enough vitamin C to protect sailors from scurvy on long sea voyages.

As the alcohol had a preventative effect against bad moods on board, he prescribed his drink twice a day.

Lime Juice is not suitable for undiluted consumption. The mixing ratio should be at least 1:5.
