From 2024, Maison Ferrand’s Plantation brand will be renamed Planteray. This decision reflects the company’s commitment to demonstrating sensitivity and respect for historical contexts, particularly with regard to issues such as racial equality, equality and diversity.

The name change aims to make the brand image more modern and cosmopolitan. “Planteray” combines “Plant” for sugar cane and “Ray” for the sun’s rays, which aid the growth of sugar cane, and is intended to create a positive association free from historical baggage. Despite the name change, the flavour and production process of the rums will remain unchanged.

After the Planteray Rum Spain PX Cask has fermented for two days, it is distilled using the column still method. The Planteray Rum Spain is then aged for 11 years and 4 months in 200-litre bourbon casks in its country of origin before being transported to Maison Ferrand in France, where it undergoes an eight-month finish in Pedro Ximénez sherry casks. This finishing process adds sweet and rich aromas, giving the rum extra depth and rounding off its complex flavour profile.

Nose: Herbs, lovage, nuts, coffee, chocolate, dark berries.

Palate: Mild, spicy sweetness, light fruity notes.

Finish: Long-lasting.
