From 2024, Maison Ferrand’s Plantation brand will be renamed Planteray. This decision reflects the company’s commitment to demonstrating sensitivity and respect for historical contexts, particularly with regard to issues such as racial equality, equality and diversity.

The name change aims to give the brand a more modern and cosmopolitan image. “Planteray” combines “Plant” for sugar cane and “Ray” for the sun’s rays, which aid the growth of the sugar cane, and is intended to create a positive association free from historical baggage. Despite the name change, the flavour and production process of the rums will remain unchanged.

The West Indies Rum Distillery in Barbados produces rum from molasses, which, following a two-day fermentation, is distilled using both pot stills and column stills. After the rum has matured for three years in bourbon casks in Barbados, it is transported to Maison Ferrand in France, where it is aged for a further two years in Ferrand casks. A final one-year finish in Amarone casks imparts deep aromas to the rum, resulting in a particularly complex flavour profile.

Finish: Long-lasting, smoky, salted peanuts.
