Leo Hillinger is a visionary entrepreneur and winegrower whose passion for viticulture has earned him international recognition. His estate, which today comprises an impressive 100 hectares of vineyards, is renowned not only in Austria but worldwide for its excellent wines. These wines are exported to over 20 countries around the world, underlining the global presence and popularity of the Hillinger brand. Hillinger’s focus on sustainable viticultural practices and organic production plays a key role in ensuring that his wines impress with their exceptional quality and purity.

Following years of training in Europe and California, Hillinger purchased 12 hectares of vineyards, thereby laying the foundation for his successful winery in Jois, which opened in 2004. The business has expanded to include several wine shops and bars across Austria and a long-standing business partnership with the Constantia Glen winery in South Africa. In 2012, Hillinger was named ‘Entrepreneur of the Year’ by Ernst & Young, highlighting his outstanding role in the wine industry.

“Jack without Dad” is an exceptional white wine cuvée, created by Leo Hillinger Junior – also known as Jack – and inspired by the guiding principle “Without Dad”.

This white wine blends the Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay grape varieties. It is vinified through spontaneous fermentation and aged for 20 months in barrique barrels. With an ageing potential of up to 10 years and a natural cork closure, this wine promises a long-lasting drinking experience.

Tasting Note

On the nose, it is predominantly fruity with notes of blackcurrants and hints of pepper. On the palate, it is mineral, with flavours of ripe bananas and blackcurrants, accompanied by lovage. The finish is long-lasting, full-bodied and mineral.
