The Macallan 12 Years Old Colour Collection 40% ABV 0.7 l + GB is an exclusive single malt Scotch whisky that impressively reflects The Macallan’s long-standing philosophy centred on natural colour and traditional sherry cask maturation. As the latest release in the Colour Collection, this whisky has been matured for 12 years in carefully selected sherry-seasoned oak casks, which were previously filled with high-quality sherry in Jerez de la Frontera, Spain. Maturation in these special casks gives the single malt its natural golden oak colour, which is achieved entirely without the addition of colourings. Originally released as a Travel Exclusive, this edition is one of The Macallan’s highly sought-after special releases. The 0.7 l bottle is presented in a high-quality gift box, the colour scheme of which reflects the light-coloured Albariza soils of the Jerez sherry region.


The Colour Collection was created in collaboration with the renowned artist and graphic designer David Carson, who drew inspiration from the characteristic colours and soils of Jerez de la Frontera for the packaging design. Alongside the historic Easter Elchies House, the spiritual home of The Macallan in Speyside, Scotland, the design links the origin of the sherry casks with the distillery’s home. At 40% ABV, the whisky is elegant and well-balanced. The combination of sweet oak, citrus fruits, vanilla and fresh fruit notes highlights the exceptional quality of the casks and The Macallan’s decades of expertise in maturing single malt whisky.

Tasting Note

Colour: Golden oak.

Nose: Sweet oak, lemon zest, vanilla biscuits and ripe pears.

Palate: Syrup cake, lemon cream, orchard fruits and a hint of nutmeg.

Finish: Medium-length with sweet oak and fresh citrus zest.
