The story behind this bottling begins - like so many on Islay - on a dark night. Some believe it was just Rory, the distillery's moody Shetland pony, trotting across the farmyard in search of a nibble. Others are convinced it was a real Scottish unicorn that left an eerie silhouette in the moonlight. Whatever the truth may be, The Unicorn's Tale reflects the myth, the wildness and the inexplicable that fascinates Ardbeg fans worldwide.

In terms of flavour, this single malt is a play of sweet smoothness and smoky depth, just like its namesake: charming but unpredictable. Bottled at 46% vol., non-chill-filtered and naturally without colouring, the whisky remains true to the Ardbeg spirit: uncompromising in expression and quality.

Tasting Note

Colour: Natural gold with an amber hue.

Nose: Complex and inviting with baked apricots, lemon meringue, barley sugar, wisps of smoke and a hint of damp peat.

Flavour: Multi-layered with sweet vanilla, dry Madeira, spicy wood notes, green mint, smoky charcoal and a tart, salty sea character.

Finish: Langs, smoky and elegant with hints of cinnamon, malt sugar and a mysterious earthy finish.
