In 1921, Hugo Kümmerling, a travelling chemist based in Deesbach, Thuringia, developed his first alcohol-based herbal blend. The result was a stomach bitter which he named ‘Boonekamp’. Over the years, he continued to refine the recipes for his unique herbal blends, which are still used today. When Johannes Presch, the founder’s son-in-law, rebuilt and modernised the production facility in Bodenheim near Mainz in 1963, the tradition was carried on.

The strictly secret recipe for the herbal liqueur is based exclusively on natural ingredients, which give it its unmistakable semi-bitter flavour. Thanks to this careful selection and processing, the quality of the liqueur remains consistently high, making it popular with connoisseurs and enthusiasts alike. This ongoing dedication to perfection is reflected in every drop of the herbal liqueur.

Tasting Note

Colour: Dark brown.

Nose: Notes of liquorice, cinnamon, cloves, spices and mint.

Palate: Slightly bitter, liquorice, angelica root, cloves and spearmint.

Finish: Long-lasting, slightly bitter.
