The Adam-Lieleg Alte Reben Zweigelt Barrique Steiermark 2021 is a powerful red wine matured in barriques with great ageing potential. The grapes come from Zweigelt vines that are over 30 years old and whose deep roots are ideally suited to the unique soil characteristics. The grapes are hand-picked selectively to ensure that only perfectly ripe grapes are vinified. After careful fermentation, the wine matures for at least 36 months in small oak barrels, which not only gives it depth, but also an elegant tannin structure and fine roasted flavours.

With an alcohol content of 14.5 % vol., its complex structure and ageing potential of at least 10 years, this wine is a real jewel of the region. Sealed with a natural cork and bottled in an elegant design, this Zweigelt is ideal for Lager or immediate enjoyment at a high level. A typical representative of premium red wine from Austria that uncompromisingly emphasises the DNA of its origin.

Tasting Note

In the glass, the wine shines in a dense, deep ruby red colour with violet nuances. A complex bouquet of dark cherries, ripe plums and wild berries unfolds on the nose, accompanied by hints of vanilla, tobacco and delicate dark chocolate. On the palate, the Zweigelt is powerful and silky, with perfectly integrated tannins, a harmonious acidity structure and a long, elegant finish. Maturation in barriques rounds off the flavour spectrum with subtle toasted notes and a fine woody character.

Drinking temperature: 17-18 °C

The Adam-Lieleg Zweigelt Barrique is an ideal accompaniment to hearty dishes such as braised game, rack of lamb, fillet of beef or mature hard cheese. It also develops its depth with mushroom dishes, dark risotto or Mediterranean cuisine with aubergines and olives. A dessert with dark chocolate or pickled plums is the perfect finishing touch.
