Mount Gay Estate, situated on the Upper Coral Reef Terrace plateau in St Lucy, Barbados, was raised from the sea around 400,000 years ago and boasts an impressive elevation of 150 metres in the east and 105 metres in the west. The estate’s loamy soil lends the sugar cane grown there a distinctive quality.

Mount Gay Single Estate Series Rum #2 is made from 100% molasses extracted from the sugarcane grown at the Mount Gay Estate in St Lucy, Barbados. This molasses is characterised by a particularly high sugar content of 72 per cent and was produced in 2018. An in-house yeast, specially cultivated at the Mount Gay Estate, is used in the production process. Fermentation takes an exceptionally long time – 9 days compared to the usual 4 days. This extended fermentation leads to a secondary fermentation, which gives the rum a subtle colour and distinctive Barbadian flavours, including pineapple and guava.

The rum is distilled 100% in pot stills and bottled in a limited edition of just 5,418 numbered bottles.

A unique rum that perfectly reflects the special tradition and terroir of Barbados.

Tasting Note

Colour: Gold.

Nose: Citrus fruits, almonds, milk chocolate, sea salt.

Palate: Ripe grapefruit, brown sugar, oak, salty smoky notes, floral aromas.

Finish: Long-lasting.
