Description
The Weingut Emil Bauer & Söhne in Landau-Nußdorf (Palatinate) combines tradition with an innovative Zeitgeist. Run by brothers Martin and Alexander Bauer, the winery is renowned for high-quality, terroir-driven wines full of character. They are particularly well known for their provocative labels, which convey clear messages – yet behind the marketing lies genuine craftsmanship.
Emil Bauer Sauvignon Blanc No Terrorist is a distinctive and expressive single-varietal Sauvignon Blanc from the Palatinate, bearing the hallmark of the renowned Weingut Emil Bauer & Söhne. The grapes thrive under ideal conditions in the Palatinate, where the vines sink their roots deep into soils of clay, limestone and loess.
When the grapes reach optimal ripeness, they are harvested particularly quickly and during the coolest part of the day to preserve their intense aromas. After careful hand-picking, the grapes are taken straight to the winery, where they are sorted and gently pressed. Fermentation then takes place in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures to preserve the fresh fruit and aromatic intensity. Once fermentation is complete, the wine matures on the fine lees for several months, giving it structure and body. Finally, it is bottled and sealed with a screw cap.
With its unique and provocative design – ‘If you are racist, a terrorist or just an arsehole – don’t drink my Sauvignon Blanc’ – this Sauvignon Blanc has gained particular notoriety. But it’s not just the label that’s causing a stir – this wine also impresses across the board with its intense fruitiness and freshness.
Tasting Note
A radiant, pale yellow colour in the glass. On the nose, intense hints of gooseberries, green apples and ripe passion fruit. Fresh grass, stinging nettle and a hint of citrus accompany these intense notes. Crisp, lively and fruity on the palate, with flavours of ripe gooseberries and apples. Long-lasting and slightly spicy on the finish.
Serving temperature: 8–10 °C
An ideal accompaniment to light fish and seafood dishes, sushi and Asian dishes with notes of citrus and ginger. It also pairs superbly with goat’s cheese, summer salads with fresh herbs or green asparagus with lemon butter.
