Ron Cueva 1501 Panama 12 Sistema Solera Rum is an outstanding premium rum from Panama, carefully aged using the traditional solera method. With an alcohol content of 40% vol. and bottled in an elegant 0.7-litre bottle, this rum combines centuries-old craftsmanship with the exotic diversity of Panama. Ron Cueva 12 is a blend of the finest rums, which are aged in selected oak casks for up to 12 years. This long ageing period allows for an exceptional variety of aromas and ensures a harmonious balance between sweet, fruity and spicy notes. Solera ageing is a specialised method in which younger and older distillates are blended over the course of many years within a complex system of oak casks stacked one on top of the other.

The name Cueva 1501 refers to the year 1501, when the first Spanish explorers reached the coasts of what is now Panama. This connection to history is reflected in the traditional production process, which gives this rum its unmistakable depth of character.

Tasting Note

Colour: Deep amber with golden highlights, shimmering and inviting.

Nose: Sweet notes of vanilla and caramelised sugar, accompanied by dried fruit, ripe banana, coconut and subtle oak nuances.

Palate: Full-bodied, smooth and harmonious, with a gentle sweetness of honey and toffee, combined with spicy notes of cinnamon, nutmeg and a hint of dark chocolate.

Finish: Long and velvety, with lingering notes of toasted wood, subtle spice and a gentle caramel aftertaste.

Ron Cueva 12 Solera is an excellent sipping rum, best enjoyed neat or on the rocks to allow its full range of flavours to unfold. Its spicy-sweet aromas come into their own in a Rum Old Fashioned or a Dark & Stormy. If you wish to pair it with food, it goes superbly with dark chocolate, caramelised nuts or a strong espresso.
