Clonakilty Small Batch Double Oak is a whisky that elegantly showcases the diversity of cask ageing. Firstly, the whisky is matured in fresh oak barrels, which give it a clear wood flavour. It is then finished in a processed Bordeaux red wine cask, which adds extra complexity and a hint of fruitiness.

Tasting Note

Colour: Golden yellow with a slight amber sheen.

Nose: Vanilla, honey, light-coloured fruit and toasted oak.

Flavour: Soft, round, with notes of apple, spices, toffee and light toast.

Finish: Medium length, spicy and woody with a subtly sweet aftertaste.

Best enjoyed neat or with a few drops of water to bring out the full flavour of the cask. The whiskey goes perfectly with nutty desserts, crème brûlée or apple tart, but also with mature hard cheese. In the bar, this bottling is suitable as a sophisticated base for classic whiskey cocktails such as the Whiskey Sour or a Double Oak Old Fashioned.
