Description
The Grüner Veltliner Federspiel Loibenberg 2024 from Domäne Wachau is an impressive example of Austrian white wine culture, clearly expressing its origins. The grapes come from the renowned Loibenberg vineyard, one of the best-known and warmest single-vineyard sites in the Wachau. There, the vines grow on steep terraces with stony, primeval soils, which lend the wine a distinctive minerality, depth and expressiveness.
Domäne Wachau ranks among Europe’s finest cooperative wineries and is renowned for its uncompromising quality and sustainable viticulture. In the Wachau, the Federspiel Linie is synonymous with elegant, medium-bodied wines characterised by clear fruit, subtle spice and precise structure – a promise of quality that bridges the gap between Steinfeder and Smaragd. The 2024 vintage impresses with classic varietal character, precise expression of its terroir and a modern, fresh style.
With an alcohol content of 12.5% vol., this Veltliner is an excellent accompaniment to food and an authentic expression of the unique Loibenberg terroir.
Tasting Note
In the glass, the Grüner Veltliner Federspiel Loibenberg 2024 appears a pale straw yellow with greenish highlights. The nose opens with spicy peppery notes, ripe apples, citrus fruits and a hint of white peach, underpinned by a distinct mineral note. On the palate, the wine is taut, precise and lively, with juicy fruit, lively acidity and subtle spice. Its elegant structure and long, salty-mineral finish lend it depth and ageing potential.
This Grüner Veltliner from the Loibenberg vineyard is a versatile accompaniment to food, pairing particularly well with Wiener schnitzel, Tafelspitz, roast poultry or fish dishes. It also pairs superbly with Asian dishes, spicy vegetable dishes, asparagus or goat’s cheese.
Served at 8–10 °C, the wine reveals its full complexity and elegance. It is suitable both for festive meals and as a sophisticated wine for connoisseurs of characterful white wines with a distinct origin and signature style.
