The ageing process takes place in several stages and ensures a multi-layered flavour profile. First, the rum is aged for six years in ex-bourbon casks in its country of origin, Barbados. The spirit is then transferred to ex-sherry casks and subsequently matured further in ex-Banyuls wine casks, where it undergoes Solera ageing for around four years. This combination of Caribbean rum tradition and Spanish and French cask culture creates a unique balance of fruit, spice and elegant sweetness.
