The Knöbl Blauer Zweigelt 2023, 13.5% ABV, 0.75 l, is a classic, fruit-forward red wine from Austria that impresses with its characteristic aromas and harmonious structure. The Zweigelt grape variety – also known as Blauer Zweigelt, Rotburger or Zweigeltrebe – is the country’s most important red wine variety and was originally created from a cross between Blaufränkisch and St. Laurent. It produces wines that captivate with their juicy fruit, soft tannins and supple body.

Tasting Note

In the glass, the Knöbl Blauer Zweigelt 2023 displays a deep ruby red colour with violet highlights. On the nose, fragrant aromas of ripe cherries and juicy plums unfold, accompanied by a subtle spiciness and a hint of violets. On the palate, the wine is fruity, round and harmonious, with a grapey, soft texture and fine tannins. The cherry and plum aromas return in the long, elegant finish, lending the wine its typical, charming Zweigelt character.

The Knöbl Blauer Zweigelt 2023 is a versatile accompaniment to grilled meat, pasta with tomato sauces, poultry, roast pork or mild cheeses. It also pairs superbly with traditional Austrian home-style dishes such as beef goulash or fried chicken. Served at a temperature of 16–18 °C, it reveals its full fruitiness and elegant structure. It will reach its peak by 2030, though the wine also delights when young with its juicy freshness.
