Matsui Whisky THE KURAYOSHI Pure Malt Whisky Sherry Cask embodies the precise craftsmanship of the Japanese Matsui Shuzo distillery in Tottori Prefecture. This Japanese pure malt whisky is based on particularly soft, mineral-poor water that comes from the snow-capped peaks of Mount Daisen and is filtered through natural rock. This water quality significantly characterises the clarity and balance of the distillate. Maturation initially takes place over three years in carefully selected, charred oak casks, before a finish in sherry oak casks gives the whisky additional depth, structure and complexity.


This sherry cask pure malt whisky is bottled at 43% in a 0.7 litre bottle, deliberately non-chill-filtered to fully preserve texture and character. The pure malt style allows the blending of several malt whiskies within the distillery and ensures a harmonious, clearly defined overall picture. Matsui THE KURAYOSHI Pure Malt Whisky Sherry Cask is ideal for pure enjoyment after a hearty meal. It harmonises particularly well with dark chocolate from around 70% cocoa, chocolate desserts with fruit components or fine orange confectionery. It also goes well with nut cakes, almond biscuits or lightly caramelised desserts. This Japanese sherry cask whisky unfolds its balanced, long-lasting flavour particularly well as an accompaniment to mild to medium-bodied hard cheese or dried fruit such as dates and figs.
