La Scolca Gavi dei Gavi Bianco Secco Etichetta Nera DOCG 2024 is an iconic Gavi DOCG from Piedmont that has been produced by La Scolca since 1919 and is recognised as a benchmark for high-quality Cortese wine. The Soldati family, steeped in tradition, has played a key role in popularising the Cortese grape variety internationally and giving this legendary Gavi dei Gavi its unmistakable identity. The 2024 vintage continues this success story and presents itself as an elegant, terroir-influenced Italian white wine with a clear origin and strong character.


This Gavi Bianco Secco DOCG is made from 100% Cortese grapes, which find optimal conditions in the hills of Piedmont. Fermentation is temperature-controlled at low temperatures, sometimes with a short maceration period to intensify structure and expression. The wine then remains on the fine lees until bottling, in classic sur lie maturation, which further enhances complexity and texture. At 12% vol., this Piedmont white wine is precise, mineral and multi-layered. The Etichetta Nera is the house's flagship wine and is synonymous with elegance, finesse and long-lasting quality in the segment of high-quality DOCG wines from Italy.

Tasting Note

Pale straw yellow in the glass with delicate greenish reflections, the nose reveals intense and long-lasting aromas, fruity and floral depending on the degree of maturity, accompanied by fine citrus notes such as orange and lime, on the palate the wine is full-bodied and spicy, with a distinctive minerality and hints of flint, the finish is characterised by almond and walnut notes, long-lasting and elegantly structured.

This Gavi dei Gavi DOCG is an excellent accompaniment to fine fish dishes such as sea bass, sea bream or pike-perch in a lemon sauce. It is particularly harmonious with seafood such as oysters, scallops or prawns with olive oil and herbs. This Cortese white wine from Piedmont also unfolds its elegance with white meat such as veal in a light white wine sauce or poultry with Mediterranean herbs. It is also an excellent accompaniment to antipasti, vitello tonnato or fresh summer salads with citrus dressing. Served at around 8 to 10 degrees, La Scolca Etichetta Nera 2024 is an excellent choice both as a stylish aperitif and as a sophisticated accompaniment to food.
