The approach of the Mezan The Unaltered Rum Series is based on presenting rum in its purest form: no added sugar, no colouring, not chill-filtered and characterised exclusively by careful barrel ageing.


This Dominican Republic rum was distilled in 2012 and bottled in 2022, giving it an age of 10 years. The distillation took place in multi-column stills, while the maturation initially took place for 3 years in the tropics in the Caribbean and then for 7 years in Europe. The aged rum was stored in selected ex-bourbon barrels, resulting in a balanced interplay of barrel character and distillate structure. The bottling is also limited to 5,500 bottles worldwide, making this limited edition rum particularly interesting for collectors and lovers of authentic rums.

Tasting Note

Colour: Golden yellow, warm reflections.

Nose: Fruity, vanilla, tropical fruit, light spices, fine woody notes.

Flavour: Balanced, caramel, vanilla, oak, subtle fruit, soft.

Finish: Harmonious, mildly spicy, slightly sweet, long-lasting.

This Dominican Republic Aged Rum is ideal as a digestif after hearty dishes such as grilled meat, pork or BBQ dishes and harmonises particularly well with desserts such as caramel pudding, chocolate cake or nut biscuits.
