Produced in the renowned Glenlivet region, this peated single malt represents an unusual style within Speyside, as it utilises heavily peated malt. Whilst Speyside whiskies are usually known for their fruity and mellow characteristics, the Old Ballantruan Peated Malt introduces powerful smoky notes and combines them with the region’s classic elegance. It is produced using traditional methods, with great emphasis placed on authenticity and craftsmanship. Bottled at a robust 50 per cent ABV and, of course, non-chill-filtered, the natural structure, texture and density of flavour are fully preserved.

Tasting Note

Colour: Warm gold.

Nose: Heather smoke, delicate floral notes and subtle sweetness.

Palate: Mellow peaty smoke, citrus notes, malty nuttiness and elegant spice.

Finish: Long and smoky, with lingering peat, malty sweetness and a subtle warmth, long-lasting.

The Old Ballantruan Peated Malt Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky pairs superbly with smoked salmon, oysters or grilled scallops, as its smoky and maritime notes perfectly complement the salty flavours. It also harmonises well with grilled meats such as lamb or beef, as well as game dishes, where its spicy smokiness comes into its own. This peated whisky also reveals its full depth when paired with strong cheeses such as Cheddar or blue cheese, as well as with dark chocolate or chocolate desserts. It is particularly recommended to enjoy it neat or with a few drops of water to fully appreciate its complex flavours.
