Produced in the renowned Glenlivet region, this peated single malt represents an unusual style within Speyside, as it uses heavily peated malt. While Speyside whiskies are usually known for their fruity and mild characteristics, the Old Ballantruan Whisky brings strong smoky notes into play and combines these with the classic elegance of the region. It is produced using traditional methods, with great emphasis placed on authenticity and quality craftsmanship. Bottled at a powerful 50% and naturally not chill-filtered, the natural structure, texture and flavour density are fully preserved.

Tasting Note

Colour: Warm gold.

Nose: Heather smoke, fine floral notes and subtle sweetness.

Flavour: Gentle peat smoke, citrus notes, malty nuttiness and elegant spice.

Finish: Langs and smoky, with lingering peat, malt sweetness and subtle warmth, long lasting.

The Old Ballantruan Whisky Peated Malts Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky is an excellent accompaniment to smoked salmon, oysters or grilled scallops, as its smoky and maritime notes ideally complement the salty flavours. It also harmonises well with grilled meat such as lamb or beef as well as game dishes, where its spicy smokiness comes into its own. This peated whisky also unfolds its full depth with strong cheeses such as cheddar or blue cheese as well as dark chocolate or chocolate desserts. We particularly recommend drinking it neat or with a few drops of water to experience the complex flavours to the full.
