The Hillinger JACK without dad! Red 2021 13.5% vol. 0.75 litre is a red wine from Austria with a strong character, which comes from the Leo Hillinger winery in Burgenland. It is particularly noteworthy that this wine was vinified by Leo Hillinger's son, who is also called Leo Hillinger. With this project, the next generation of the winery shows its own signature and interprets the Cabernet Franc grape variety in a modern and independent way. The grapes grow on gravel soils, which give the wine a clear structure, minerality and depth. The wine is made from 100% Cabernet Franc, a grape variety known for its aromatic intensity, flavour and excellent ageing potential.


After careful vinification, the Hillinger JACK without dad! Red 2021 matures for around 20 months in new and used barrique barrels, giving the wine additional complexity, fine roasted flavours and a harmonious structure. With 13.5% alcohol by volume, this Burgenland red wine is powerful, balanced and elegant. The combination of ripe tannins, moderate acidity and intense fruit gives the wine depth and provides ageing potential of around 8 to 10 years. This Austrian Cabernet Franc is traditionally sealed with a natural cork.

Tasting Note

Dark ruby red in the glass with clear, light red edges, The nose is dominated by intense aromas of dark and red fruits with a clear and fruity aroma, On the palate, the wine is powerful with ripe tannins and a clear structure, with the dark fruit taking centre stage and the mineral character of the gravel soils in the core of the wine, The finish is carried by moderate acidity and round tannins and shows a good to medium length.

The Hillinger JACK without dad! Red 2021 is an excellent accompaniment to beef, game dishes, matured ham or mushroom risotto. This Cabernet Franc from Burgenland also harmonises well with strong meat dishes, grilled meat or mature cheese such as Camembert. Served at around 14 °C, this Austrian red wine develops its aromatic depth and structure particularly harmoniously.
