The Domäne Wachau Rosé Santé Federspiel Terrassen 2025, 12.5% ABV, in a 0.75-litre bottle, is a characterful and sophisticated rosé wine from the Wachau, which impressively reflects the unique terroir of one of Austria’s most renowned wine regions. Produced by Domäne Wachau, this Wachau Federspiel Rosé is a blend of predominantly Blauer Zweigelt with a proportion of Pinot Noir. The grapes come from vineyards on both sides of the Danube, with many vines growing on the characteristic terraced slopes characterised by dry stone walls. The sparse, ancient rock soils lend the wine its distinctive minerality and unmistakable terroir character.


The 2025 vintage benefited from a variable but exceptionally high-quality growing season. Warm spells during the summer, cool nights and a selective hand-harvest enabled the harvesting of grapes with excellent freshness and precise aromatics. The vineyards are managed sustainably and increasingly organically, using methods such as permanent cover cropping and biodynamic compost. Following careful selection, vinification takes place predominantly in stainless steel tanks, supplemented by portions aged in large wooden barrels, concrete eggs and used small wooden barrels. This combination lends the Santé Federspiel 2025 Rosé additional depth, structure and complexity. The result is a modern premium rosé from Austria that superbly combines elegance, vibrancy and drinking pleasure.

Tasting Note

In the glass, the Domäne Wachau Rosé Santé Federspiel Terrassen 2025 appears a pale salmon pink. On the nose, it is open and complex, with fruity and spicy nuances. On the palate, elegant cherry notes unfold, accompanied by a delicate, salty acidity, subtle reduction and an invigorating freshness. The structure is taut and precise, whilst a subtle spiciness accompanies the finish. The finish is elegant, mineral and pleasantly long-lasting.

Classic Austrian dishes such as minced meat roast, Krautfleckerl or leg of lamb with herbs are also perfectly complemented by its freshness and structure.
