Chivas Regal EXTRA 13 Years Old American Rye Casks Finish is a 13-year-old blended Scotch whisky that combines the classic Chivas Regal style with the additional influence of American rye whisky casks. For this edition, a portion of the whisky – which has been aged for at least 13 years – is finished in American rye casks, giving the bottling additional character. The concept follows the principle of ‘extra aged, extra cask, extra flavour’ and deliberately focuses on this additional cask treatment. At the same time, the choice of American rye casks is a nod to Chivas Regal’s long-standing connection with the USA: the brand entered the American market as early as 1909 and established itself particularly strongly in New York.


The use of American rye casks enhances the character of the blended Scotch without overshadowing the smooth and harmonious style typical of Chivas Regal. It is important to note that it is not the entire blend, but only a portion of the Chivas Extra 13 that receives this finish. The components are then combined for the final bottling at 40 per cent in a 0.7-litre bottle. The combination of 13 years’ maturation, Blended Scotch Whisky and a partial American Rye Cask finish makes this edition an interesting variation within the Chivas Extra 13 range and is aimed particularly at whisky lovers who wish to discover classic blends with additional cask influences.

Tasting Note

Colour: Warm amber.

Nose: Soft and inviting, with creamy vanilla and a pleasant sweetness.

Palate: Round and harmonious with juicy orange and creamy milk chocolate, accompanied by a delicate sweetness and the additional influences of the American rye casks.

Finish: Exceptionally smooth and mellow with a harmonious lingering sweetness.

Chivas Regal Extra 13 American Rye Casks Finish is ideal neat, on the rocks or in premium whisky long drinks. For a simple highball, it can be combined with soda and a twist of orange, which brings out the fruity notes. Culinary pairings include milk chocolate, orange-flavoured desserts, caramelised nuts or mildly matured cheeses, which complement its smooth profile well.
