Chivas Regal MIZUNARA Blended Scotch Whisky combines the traditional Scottish art of blending with a distinctive Japanese influence. Chivas Regal is regarded as a pioneer, as this expression was the first Blended Scotch Whisky to be developed with a selective finish in Japanese Mizunara oak casks. It is important to note that not the entire blend, but only a portion of the whisky, is finished in Mizunara oak casks. Mizunara is a rare species of Japanese oak; due to its unique wood properties, it is challenging to work with and is therefore used relatively rarely in whisky maturation. The finish complements the classic Chivas style with additional floral and delicately spicy notes.


Chivas Regal Mizunara is bottled at 40 per cent in a 0.7-litre bottle. As a Blended Scotch Whisky, it combines carefully selected Scottish malt and grain whiskies, the interplay of which is enhanced by the partial influence of Japanese Mizunara oak. This bottling thus brings together two distinct whisky cultures: the time-honoured production and blending of Scotch whisky, and the use of Mizunara oak, which is characteristic of Japanese whisky. It is precisely this combination that makes Chivas Mizunara a distinctive variant within the Chivas Regal range and an interesting choice for whisky enthusiasts seeking a classic blended Scotch with an unusual cask-driven character.

Tasting Note

Colour: Warm gold.

Nose: Rich and fruity with ripe pears and orange, accompanied by floral notes and a subtle spiciness.

Palate: Smooth and full-bodied with honey and hazelnuts, complemented by fruity, floral and subtly spicy notes.

Finish: Long-lasting and characteristically spicy with gentle woody notes and harmonious sweetness.

Chivas Regal Mizunara is particularly well suited to being enjoyed neat at room temperature, over a large ice cube or with a few drops of still water. Thanks to its smooth character, it is also excellent served as a whisky highball with soda and ice, which perfectly highlights the combination of Scotch and Japanese cask influence. Culinary pairings include roasted nuts, mild to medium-strength cheeses, dark chocolate or desserts featuring honey and orange. The Mizunara is also particularly interesting for comparative whisky tastings alongside classic Chivas bottlings or Japanese-influenced whiskies.
