Depaz Rhum Très Agricole Vieux VSOP is a matured Rhum Agricole from Martinique, which embodies the time-honoured tradition of producing sugarcane distillates on this French Caribbean island. Unlike classic molasses-based rum, Rhum Agricole is made from fresh sugarcane juice, which ensures that the original character of the raw material is particularly well preserved. This bottling is produced by the Depaz distillery, whose estate lies at the foot of the Montagne Pelée volcano near Saint-Pierre. The sugar cane grown there benefits from the region’s volcanic soils and tropical climate. After the freshly harvested sugar cane has been processed and distilled, the rum is given sufficient time to mature, allowing the characteristic Agricole style to blend with the influences of the wood.

As a Rhum Vieux Agricole VSOP, this Depaz bottling represents a mature style in which the fresh sugarcane base is complemented by spicy and woody notes. Depaz is one of Martinique’s most traditional producers and is closely linked to the history of sugarcane cultivation around Montagne Pelée.
