In 1263, the head of the Mackenzie clan saved King Alexander III from an attacking stag. In recognition of this, the king granted the Mackenzie clan the right to use the emblem of the twelve-pointed royal stag in their coat of arms. With the takeover of the Dalmore distillery by the clan's descendants in 1867, this royal stag became the symbol of Dalmore whisky, which proudly adorns every bottle today. The precious single malts are matured in exceptional casks hand-picked by Master Distiller Richard Paterson.

The Dalmore distillery was founded in 1839 and is located on the Cromarty Firth coast in the Northern Highlands. Dalmore uses water from the River Alness, which flows through the small town of the same name.

The Dalmore Cigar Malt consists of 10-15 year old malts which are matured in ex-bourbon casks, American white oak casks, Matusalem Oloroso Sherrry Butts and Bodega Gonzalez Byass. The maturation in Premier Cru Cabernet Sauvignon barrique wine casks gives this Scotch whisky its unmistakable character, which can be perfectly complemented with a good cigar.

Tasting Note

Colour: Dark amber.

Nose: Fruity, citrus fruits, hint of smoke.

Flavour: Dry, chocolate, slightly malty, vanilla, hint of smoke.

Finish: Langs on the palate.
