The Balvenie Distillery, which has been producing high-quality whisky since 1892, still preserves many traditional methods in its production process. For example, the barley is still grown on site and the distillery uses a traditional malting floor - a rarity in the modern whisky industry. In addition, Balvenie employs its own team of coopers who are responsible for maintaining and repairing the casks to ensure optimum quality throughout the maturation process.

Balvenie 12 Years Old Single Barrel First Fill was first introduced in 2013 and has since been one of the brand's more exclusive whiskies. This single malt has matured in first-fill bourbon casks for a period of 12 years, giving it its characteristic depth and complexity.

As each bottling comes from a single cask, the number of bottles per cask is limited to 300, making each batch unique. Each bottle is carefully numbered by hand, further emphasising the exclusivity and artisanal character of this whisky.

Tasting Note

Colour: Light gold with shiny reflections.

Nose: Aromas of ripe apples, citrus fruits and vanilla, accompanied by a fine woody note and a hint of caramel.

Flavour: Full-bodied and balanced, with fruity notes of pear and peach, spiced with a hint of cinnamon, oak and honey.

Finish: Langs and warm, with a pleasant vanilla and spice note that gently fades away.

The Balvenie 12 Years Old Single Barrel First Fill is ideal for pure enjoyment to experience the diverse flavours in their full depth. This whisky also comes into its own as an accompaniment to mature cheese, dark chocolate or caramel desserts. For cocktails, it is ideal as a base for a Whiskey Sour or Rob Roy, allowing the intense flavours to come into their own.
