The Ardmore 12 Years Old PORT WOOD FINISH is a fascinating single malt Scotch whisky that develops a special depth and complexity due to its unique maturation and finish in port wood casks. This 12-year-old Ardmore first matured in American ex-bourbon casks before being transferred to European port wine casks for the finishing touches. The finish in the port casks gives the whisky a fruity sweetness and a rich complexity that harmonises perfectly with the classic smoky and peaty notes of Ardmore.

With an alcohol content of 46% vol., the Ardmore Port Wood Finish is a full-bodied whisky that is both powerful and smooth in flavour. The combination of traditional bourbon cask maturation and the innovative port finish creates a unique flavour profile that ranges from fruity notes such as red berries and plums to smoky and peaty accents.

Tasting Note

Colour: Deep gold with copper reflections.

Nose: A harmonious blend of smoky and peaty notes, combined with fruity aromas of red berries, plums and a fine oak spice.

Palate: Full-bodied and complex, with fruity notes of plums and candied fruit that combine with the smoky and peaty flavours, complemented by a subtle oak and spice note.

Finish: Langs and warm, with a fruity sweetness and a pleasant smoky oak spice that gently recedes.

The Ardmore 12 Years Old Port Wood Finish is ideal for drinking neat or with a small drop of water to further develop the flavours. It goes perfectly with mature cheeses such as Comté or Gouda, and also harmonises perfectly with dark chocolate or fruity desserts such as tarte tatin or crème brûlée. This whisky is also a great accompaniment to grilled meat, BBQ dishes or lamb.
