The Glenrothes 18 Years Old is an outstanding member of the Soleo Collection, which is characterised by its natural colouring and maturation in ex-sherry casks. The term "Soleo" refers to a traditional wine-making process in which the grapes are dried in the sun on mats until they turn into sultanas before being processed.

With an alcohol content of 43% vol., the Glenrothes 18 Years Old presents itself with a balanced intensity that brings out the complex flavours from the Langs cask maturation. The combination of sherry and bourbon casks gives the whisky a harmonious balance of fruity, spicy and sweet notes, which have been given remarkable depth and elegance by the long maturation.

Tasting Note

Colour: Dark gold with amber reflections.

Nose: A seductive blend of ripe fruit such as plums and stewed apples, accompanied by vanilla, caramel and a fine oak spice. Delicate sherry notes and a hint of spices such as cinnamon and nutmeg round off the bouquet.

Taste: Full-bodied and complex with flavours of dark chocolate, dried fruit, caramel and a slightly spicy oak note, which are perfectly complemented by honey and vanilla. The sherry notes add a soft, sweet depth.

Finish: Langs and warming with a lingering oak spice, a hint of dark fruit and a subtle spiciness that elegantly round off the flavour experience.

The Glenrothes 18 Years Old is perfect for drinking neat to experience the full-bodied flavours and long maturation. A drop of water can also help to further develop the complex nuances and emphasise the fruity and spicy flavours.
