Carefully selected rums from the Dominican Republic and Barbados are blended together for this composition. These countries of origin represent different rum styles - from soft and fruity to structured and spicy - resulting in a harmonious and multi-layered premium rum from the Caribbean. The rum is first matured in ex-bourbon barrels made from American oak before the blend is aged for a further six to twelve months in French oak barrels, in which very old rum from Nicaragua was previously stored. This additional barrel finish gives the Ron Espero Balboa Selección Homenaje a particularly elegant depth and an exotic, fruity character.
