The Rum Nation Guatemala XO 20th Anniversary Edition 40% Vol. 0.7 l + GB is an exclusive anniversary bottling that was launched to mark Rum Nation's 20th anniversary and impressively reflects the philosophy of the independent bottler. Only the best barrels of a rare and particularly expressive rum from Guatemala were selected for this limited edition Guatemala XO rum. It is produced using sugar cane molasses in a modern column still distillation process, which ensures an elegant and clearly structured style.


Maturation begins for at least four years in ex-bourbon barrels made from American white oak in tropical conditions near the River Hondo, allowing the rum to develop its harmonious basic structure. This is followed by 16 months of maturation in Oloroso and Pedro Ximénez sherry casks in Italy, where the cooler climate allows for slow and controlled refinement. This two-stage maturation concept gives the premium rum from Guatemala additional depth and complexity. Bottled in an elegant decanter and presented in a high-quality gift box (UK), this limited edition emphasises its status as a special collector's bottling with an international ageing concept.

Tasting Note

Colour: Mahogany.

Nose: Complex, with notes of honey, cane sugar, ripe dates, fine vanilla, dark chocolate and sultanas.

Flavour: Rich and full-bodied, with aromas of sweet honey, shortbread, sultanas, dates, dried plums and vanilla, framed by a hint of roasted nuts and candied oranges.

Finish: Langs, elegant finish, accompanied by sherry notes and liquorice.

This XO rum matured in sherry casks harmonises particularly well with desserts such as crème brûlée, chocolate mousse or a juicy date cake, as the sweet and spicy nuances are picked up perfectly. It also creates an exciting interplay with mature hard cheese or nut biscuits. It reveals its full depth as a digestif after a hearty meal. In the bar, this anniversary edition is also suitable for a Rum Old Fashioned with dark cane sugar or as a luxurious base for a sherry-accentuated signature cocktail.
