The Mars Shinshu Distillery, founded in 1985 in the Japanese Alps of Nagano, is Japan's highest whisky distillery. At an altitude of 798 metres, it benefits from a cool climate and pure spring water from Mount Komagatake - ideal conditions for whisky production. After reopening in 2011, the distillery gained international recognition and is now regarded as a flagship for excellent Japanese whisky.

Limited to 9,000 bottles, this Mars Komagatake single malt was released in 2018 especially for the Japanese market and offers an unrivalled taste experience. It skilfully combines both peated and unpeated whiskies from the renowned Shinshu distillery. Maturation in bourbon casks and American white oak casks gives the single malt its characteristic depth and rich, multi-layered flavour that connoisseurs will appreciate.

Tasting Note

Colour: Light amber.

Nose: Warm, fruity, floral, roasted bananas, pears, apricots, hints of liquorice, smoke.

Flavour: Citrus fruits, allspice, cinnamon, plums, notes of cashew nuts, vanilla.

Finish: Langs, light peat smoke, peppermint.
