The Kavalan Ex-Bourbon Oak Cask Single Malt Whisky 46% Vol. 0.7 l + GB is an elegant and finely balanced single malt whisky from the award-winning Kavalan Distillery in Yilan, Taiwan. This bottling is essentially the "toned down" version of the powerful Kavalan Solist ex-bourbon, as it is reduced to a drinking strength of 46% vol. using the purest Kavalan spring water. This makes the whisky softer, rounder and even more harmonious in flavour without losing any of its depth or complexity.


It matures completely in first ex-bourbon casks made from American white oak, which give it its characteristic freshness and complexity. Taiwan's tropical climate intensifies the maturation process, allowing the whisky to develop an extraordinary wealth of flavours in a shorter period of time. The result is a wonderfully clear, creamy and tropical-fruity single malt with notes of vanilla, coconut and fine oak spices - a typical expression of Taiwanese cask art.

Tasting Note

Colour: Delicate, light gold.

Nose: Fresh and clean with notes of tropical fruit, vanilla, coconut and a fine spiciness.

Flavour: Soft, round and balanced with natural sweetness, vanilla, honey and delicate oak notes, accompanied by a creamy texture and fine balance.

Finish: Elegant, mild and long-lasting with vanilla, coconut and gentle spice in the aftertaste.
