Benriach The Smoky Ten is a peated Speyside single malt Scotch whisky full of character that reflects the traditional yet experimental philosophy of the Benriach Distillery. Back in the early 1970s, Benriach deliberately returned to the historic production methods of the 19th century and once again distilled whisky from Highland peat-dried barley. This wood-rich Highland peat gives the whisky a sweet, elegant smokiness that clearly sets it apart from maritime Islay styles.


For The Smoky Ten, peated and unpeated distillate are combined and matured for at least ten years in three different types of cask. Classic bourbon casks, flavoured Jamaican rum casks and toasted virgin oak casks are used. This three-cask maturation ensures depth, structure and a harmonious combination of fruit, smoke and spice. Bottled at 46% vol., uncoloured and non-chill-filtered, this single malt is powerful, authentic and balanced. The high-quality gift box emphasises the sophisticated character of this bottling.

Tasting Note

Colour: Light gold.

Nose: Ripe orchard syrup, smoked honey, fine oak spices.

Flavour: Smoky apple wood, honey, maple syrup and spicy pear.

Finish: Langs with fruit, smoke and toasted oak, balanced sweet and smoky.

The Benriach The Smoky Ten is ideal for pure enjoyment, whereby a few drops of water can reveal additional fruity and sweet nuances. In culinary terms, this smoky Speyside single malt harmonises very well with grilled meat, BBQ dishes, smoked cheese or dark chocolate.
