Masahiro Distillery was founded in 1883 by Shobun Higa, whose father Shozoku Higa was the master chef of the old Ryukyu kingdom.

With the help of Shozoku Higa's reputation and connections, the distillery was granted a licence to produce the traditional Okinawan spirit "awamori" and has since established itself as one of Okinawa's oldest and largest distilleries.

Shozoku's passion for cooking is still reflected today in Masahiro Distillery's company philosophy of producing only the finest spirits.

Masahiro Pure Malt Whisky is a blended malt that matures for more than three years in old sherry butt and bourbon barrels and is then matured for at least six months in Jack Daniel's First Fill Bourbon barrels.

Tasting Note

Colour: Straw gold.

Nose: Sweet, balanced, citrus flavours, pineapple, bananas, tropical fruits, sweet vanilla ice cream.

Flavour: Light, malt, hint of ginger juice, white oak.

Finish: Langs, sweet, spicy.
