The Shinobu Pure Malt 15 Years Old Whisky Mizunara Japanese Oak Finish is an exquisite expression from the Shinobu Distillery, which achieves remarkable depth and complexity through 15 years’ maturation in traditional oak casks and a unique finish in Mizunara oak casks. This Japanese single malt whisky, with an alcohol content of 43% ABV, combines the tradition of Japanese whisky-making with modern and innovative cask maturation, which lends it its distinctive spiciness and woody depth.

Mizunara oak, found only in Japan, imparts aromas of coconut, spiced herbs and subtle woody notes to the whisky, which blend harmoniously with its fruity and sweet notes. The long maturation ensures a particularly smooth texture and a rich flavour profile, whilst the whisky retains its purity and complexity. This whisky is bottled without artificial colourings, which emphasises its natural elegance.

Tasting Note

Colour: Pale gold with golden highlights.

Nose: Aromas of caramel, dried fruit, cinnamon and a subtle hint of coconut, complemented by woody and spicy notes from Mizunara oak.

Palate: Full-bodied with a harmonious balance between fruity notes of plums, pears and spices, perfectly complemented by the woody depth of Mizunara oak.

Finish: Long-lasting, with a warm oakiness and a hint of sweetness that fades gently, rounding off the whisky beautifully.

The Shinobu Pure Malt is excellent enjoyed neat, ideally well chilled or on the rocks, to fully experience its complex flavours. This whisky also showcases its multi-layered flavours perfectly when used as a base for whisky cocktails such as a Whisky Sour, Old Fashioned or Highball. It pairs particularly well with mature cheeses, grilled meat, smoked fish or a fruity dessert such as Tarte Tatin.
