MacNair's Lum Reek 12 Years Old Peated is a masterfully composed blended malt bottling that combines the powerful smokiness of Islay with the elegant fruitiness of Speyside. Bottled at 46% vol. and non-chill-filtered, this peated whisky offers a deep, complex flavour profile that will delight both smoke lovers and fans of multi-layered sherry cask notes.

Crafted by GlenAllachie Distillers, under the direction of renowned Master Blender Billy Walker, this whisky combines carefully selected peated and unpeated single malts from Scotland that have been matured for at least 12 years. The casks consist of first-fill bourbon, Pedro Ximénez sherry and red wine casks, which give the whisky an impressive depth, balance and smoky elegance.

The name "Lum Reek" comes from an old Scottish phrase "Langs may yer lum reek", meaning "May your chimney smoke long" - a symbol of warmth, hospitality and good living.

Tasting Note

Colour: Golden amber with copper reflections.

Nose: Strong peat smoke notes, accompanied by dark chocolate, dried fruit, honey and spices.

Flavour: Full-bodied and rich with harmonious notes of peat smoke, roasted nuts, sweet malt, dark berries and spicy oak.

Finish: Langs and warming with lingering smoky notes, a fine sherry sweetness and a hint of roasted caramel.

This smoky blended malt is perfect to enjoy on its own or with a few drops of water to further develop its complex flavours. It is an excellent accompaniment to grilled meat, spicy blue cheese or dark chocolate. It also unfolds its full power as an accompaniment to a fine cigar or a strong espresso.
