The Balvenie Distillery still preserves many traditional methods in its production process. For example, the barley is still grown on site and the distillery uses a traditional malting floor - a rare practice in modern whisky production. In addition, Balvenie employs its own team of coopers who are responsible for maintaining and repairing the casks to ensure optimum quality throughout the maturation process. This dedication to craftsmanship is reflected in every drop of this exquisite whisky.

The Rare Marriages Collection is a series of whiskies in which Malt Master David C. Stewart MBE carefully combines casks to create the most complex and balanced flavours. A unique character is achieved in the 25 year old bottling, showcasing Balvenie's signature flavours: strong vanilla notes, crystallised Ingwerer and sweet honey, which combine harmoniously to create a deep, rich taste.

The design of the gift box was deliberately chosen to reflect the character and maturation process of the whisky: The ombré shading symbolises the unfolding of the flavours over time, while the golden rings emphasise the long maturation period and the valuable traditions that go into this whisky.

Tasting Note

Colour: Deep gold with amber reflections.

Nose: Complex aromas of vanilla, crystallised Ingwerer, honey and a gentle oak spice that introduce the whisky.

Taste: Full-bodied and velvety, with notes of ripe vanilla, fruity honey, crystallised Ingwerer and a pleasant oak spice that recedes into the background and supports the fruitiness.

Finish: Langs and harmonious, with a gentle sweetness and a mild oak presence that finishes elegantly.

The Balvenie 25 Years The Rare Marriages Collection is ideal for drinking neat to fully experience the complex flavours. It goes perfectly with mature cheeses such as Comté or Brie and harmonises excellently with dark chocolate or nuts. As an after-dinner drink, this whisky can be enjoyed with coffee desserts such as tiramisu or crème brûlée. For a particularly intense taste experience, it can also be combined with a fine cigar to further enhance the flavours of the whisky.
