Description
Pfanner Enzian is a spirit rich in tradition and character, characterised by its intense, earthy aromas and a distinctive bitter note. Produced by the renowned Pfanner & Gutmann Getränke GmbH, a company with over 160 years of experience in the art of distillation, this gentian schnapps combines traditional craftsmanship with the highest quality. The Pfanner family is now the fifth generation to continue its distilling tradition, relying on tried-and-tested recipes and state-of-the-art production standards.
For this fine gentian schnapps, the root of the yellow gentian is carefully collected by hand in the French Jura mountains to ensure the highest quality. After harvesting, the root is cleaned, finely ground and then subjected to a gentle distillation process. This gentle processing preserves the unmistakable aroma of the gentian and develops a deep, spicy fullness of flavour. The natural bitter substances of the gentian root provide the typical, strong flavour that makes this schnapps a real speciality.
With its perfect balance of tradition, craftsmanship and intense flavours, Pfanner Enzian is a real highlight for lovers of strong spirits. This distillate embodies the centuries-old art of Alpine distilling and offers an authentic flavour experience with an unmistakable character.
Tasting Note
Colour: Clear with light golden reflections.
Nose: Earthy, spicy notes with hints of herbs and roots.
Flavour: Intense and aromatic with a pronounced bitter note, balanced by a subtle sweetness.
Finish: Langs, strong and pleasantly tart with a slightly warming aftertaste.
Pfanner Enzian is ideal as a traditional digestif after a hearty meal, as its natural bitter substances can aid digestion. It goes particularly well with hearty Alpine dishes such as Tyrolean bacon, mountain cheese or game specialities. Gentian is also increasingly appreciated in modern bar culture - whether pure, slightly chilled or as a sophisticated ingredient in tart cocktails that emphasise its unique character.
