Description
Description
The Kopke 20 Years Old Tawny Porto with 20% vol. in a 0.75-litre bottle and elegant wooden box comes from Portugal's oldest port wine house, which has been synonymous with exceptional tawny qualities since 1638. This 20-year-old tawny is the result of a masterful composition of carefully matured wines that have been aged for many years in small oak barrels, where they have developed their typical oxidative maturity, depth and elegance. The grapes come from the classic grape varieties of the Douro - including Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz and Tinta Barroca - which give the wine its structure, aromatic intensity and natural concentration.
The two decades of barrel ageing form a Tawny with an impressive balance between sweetness, nutty flavours, ripe fruit and spicy oxidation notes. Its aromatic complexity, fine structure and harmonious sweetness make this port an outstanding representative of its category. The Kopke 20 Years Old combines elegance, depth and a warm, multi-layered spectrum of flavours, making it a perfect pleasure wine for special moments - rich, velvety and long-lasting.
Tasting Note
The colour in the glass is an intense amber to copper red. The nose reveals complex aromas of dried fruit, figs, dates, candied orange peel, walnuts and subtle notes of caramel and honey. On the palate, the Tawny is elegant, soft and multi-layered, characterised by harmonious sweetness, nutty accents, fine spice and warm, ripe fruit. The finish is gentle, elegant and long-lasting, characterised by caramel, dried fruit and a delicate roasted aroma.
The Kopke 20 Years Old Tawny Porto is an excellent accompaniment to nut desserts, crème brûlée, fig variations, chocolate desserts, tarte tatin, blue cheese or mature hard cheese. It is also perfect as an elegant finale to a meal or as a meditation wine. Served slightly chilled at 12-14 °C, it unfolds its full complexity and presents itself as a warm, elegant tawny port with Langs depth.
