Riga Black Balsam CHERRY is a modern interpretation of the traditional Latvian herbal bitter from Riga, combining the characteristic Riga Black Balsam base with high-quality natural cherry juice. The foundation is the well-known Riga Black Balsam essence, which is produced by infusing selected botanicals in an alcohol-water mixture using a special single-barrel infusion technology. This concentrated herbal essence is then blended with other ingredients such as honey, caramel and natural juices. The addition of cherry juice creates a fruity variant in which the original’s typical herbal bitterness is combined with a pronounced cherry flavour and harmonious sweetness.


Riga Black Balsam Cherry is bottled at 30 per cent in the distinctive 0.7-litre clay bottle, which is closely associated with the image of this long-established brand. Within the Riga Black Balsam range, this variant presents itself as a semi-bitter, fruitier alternative to the stronger original. Alongside ripe cherry, hints of cherry stones and cherry leaves also define its distinctive character, whilst ginger adds an extra touch of freshness. Riga Black Balsam Cherry is excellent served neat over ice, offering a fruitier alternative to the classic Riga Black Balsam Original. For simple long drinks, it can be combined with cola, Sodawasser or Schweppes Russian Wild Berry. Thanks to the combination of cherry, herbs and bittersweet components, it also makes a versatile base for cocktails. In culinary terms, dark chocolate, chocolate desserts or desserts featuring cherries and berries pair particularly well with its fruity, tangy character.
